We are Building a Pool

We are Building a Pool

It is official.

We are building a pool!

It is true.  After years and years and years and years of popping up Intex pools, we are getting the real deal.  Well, we had the real deal.  More of the real deal?  Ok, maybe a permanent deal.  Yes, permanent.  Our Intex pop up pools were awesome.  It was a great way to stay cool and have some summer fun without the cost or commitment.  Six years ago, we started building the home we currently live in.  We said then that we were going to put in a pool.  It was just so hard to finally commit to it.  So.  Here we are.  We are getting a full time, in ground, super fun swimming hole.

Our last swim of the season!

Here we are taking a family selfie from our very last swim of the summer.  We loved the pop up pool!  It was great family memories!

As much as we loved the pop up, there were limitations that pushed us to keep pursuing our dream.  The biggest was no heat.  This photo was taken on August 20th.  And we were FREEZING!!  Without heat, our swim season is basically June, July, and August.  The other big deal was the equipment.  As much as we tried to upgrade, it was not fun to feel like we were constantly fussing with something.  We were faced with the decision to spend more money or keep fiddling with what we had.  We were looking at getting a new pump, new Salt Water Generator, and a new vacuum.  If we were upgrading because we loved to swim, we finally realized . . . we want to swim.  Get an inground pool that would allow us new pool freedoms.

So . . . true to who I am, I started dreaming.  And pinning lots of things to Pinterest.  If we are going to do this, I want to make sure we know what we are getting into.  And I want to get a vision of what I want.  So, I drew a picture.

This is what I dreamed up while planning for the pool.

I didn’t hold back.  I just imagined what in the world would I like to sit out and see.  It is complete with a huge waterfall with steps up to the back that lead to a slide that comes around the left of the falls.  It has a bridge used to cross over to the other side of the pool.  Because every pool needs a bridge.  Right?  It has a diving board all the way to the right.  I added a sun shelf on the front left edge.  And look at all the trees and landscaping.  This is a real backyard oasis.

And then reality sunk in.  We had to work within a real space with a real budget.  Darn that reality!!  However, we are building a version of this.  I am giving up my bridge.  That was so sad.  But, we are getting so much that we never dreamed would be possible.

We have been talking with a couple of pool builders.  At the end of the day, we chose the one that created pools like what we envisioned in our backyard.  They seem like sweet people.  It is always nice to give business to like minded people.

Bottom line . . . we cannot wait to swim in our new backyard oasis.  God is good.
